Events to come

Jenks Center: JENKS SUMMER CINEMA PRESENTS: 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. With summer approaching, what better way to escape the heat than a good movie with friends and relatives. Join us for films that will be offered weekly, one showing on Wednesday and one on Friday each week for your viewing pleasure.

  • “Some Like It Hot”: July 23. Two musicians must dress in drag to escape the mafia after witnessing a crime. With Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.
  • “A Beautiful Mind”: July 28 & 30. An award-winning film about a brilliant academic who suffers from schizophrenia. It shows how this disease is slowly invading his mind. With Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly.

Jenks Center: JENKS MEMORY CAFÉ: 10:30 a.m. July 27. This month at the Memory Café we will try our luck with various dice games and activities. Virtual: CAR RACE WITH JIM SHAW: July 27 at 7 p.m. finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He worked for Curtiss-Wright, Northrop Grunman, Bowe Bell & Howell, Kodak and Heidts Automotive Group, where he worked on the design of high performance automotive chassis and suspension systems. He has driven cars on a variety of tracks and one of his fondest memories was driving a bloated Mini Cooper and beating BMWs. He will talk about the tracks he raced on and the cars he raced with.
