God’s Love Lutheran Church in Newtown to Present ‘The Legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’

NEWTOWN >> “A View from the Underside: The Legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer”, a solo piece adapted and performed by storyteller Al Staggs, will be performed at God’s Love Lutheran Church in Newtown on Sunday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. . The play depicts the life of one of the great heroes of the 20th century, transporting the audience to the Nazi prison cell where Bonhoeffer awaits his execution to listen to his struggles against evil, injustice, racism and faith. in God.

The performer, Al Staggs, was a parish minister for over twenty years before starting a new career as a performing artist. His highly acclaimed portrayal of Dietrich Bonhoeffer has been performed in hundreds of churches, synagogues, colleges and organizations around the world.

This show is the fifth and final event in the church’s 50th anniversary concert series and will be offered free to the community. Concert series performers are supported by a grant from the church-endowed Performing Arts Fund. Complimentary refreshments will be available after the show.
